Well it has been just over a month since we last spoke, so clearly it’s time for me to make a new post on the site. After all this time, you think I would get better about writing updates (but what would be the fun in that). If I kept everyone updated…there would be much higher expectations and we simply can’t have that. Anyway, onto the updates.
So as everyone knows, Jake is oh so close to being the big 1.0 (yes, that is cheesy, but I get at least one quasi tech/computer reference per post - I don’t make the rules people). It’s really hard to believe that a year has already past. I mean…where does the time go? Elizabeth and I have been working on Jake’s party theme, and we landed on pirates. We are putting the final touches on the invitations now (i.e. - addressing them), so hopefully everyone will have theirs next week. It should be a fun time; we hope everyone will be able to make it.
Jake is doing great though. It seems like he learns something new everyday. The kid is just so adventurous; he does not want to stay still for anyone. He did stand up a couple of times the other day unassisted, but no steps yet. He still just likes walking along the furniture and transitioning from one item to the next (for stability).
In other news, I started a new medicine on Thursday for the always fun Crohn’s. As some of you may no, I had a bad reaction to the Remicade. That was the stuff I was getting by IV every 8 weeks. Anyway, the last time I had that (back in Sept), I had a reaction after 8 minutes (far more quickly than I had previous times and more severe). It was kinda scary, to be honest. I mean they broke out the oxygen for me. After that, I think everyone was in agreement that it was not going to work for me. The doctor prescribed a medication called Humera, and after a mere 3.5 weeks I was approved for it (gotta love the health care system). I guess I should not complain, but I have no idea what someone without insurance would do in this situation. The actually cost of these shots for 3 months is like $7300; I pay $60. I guess I should just be thankful that I have the option. In any case, it looks like I did not have a reaction with the initial dose (which is 4 shots). Hopefully that trend will continue and the medicine actually does something for me.
Let’s see….what else is new? Hmmmm. Well I paid off my car a couple of weeks ago. I know that may seem boring to everyone, but I can’t express how pumped I was. My car title actually came in the mail on Thursday. Fun times!
I guess the only other thing I can think of is my new work arrangement. I have been working from home on Monday’s and Wednesday’s during the week, and that seems to be going well. It’s nice to just have to role out of bed, get a shower, and start working. I claimed the spare bedroom (the one next to Jake’s room) as my home office. Yes, I know we have an office, but I needed one with a door (to keep out sounds and a Moose).
Well I guess that is all for now. I hope that everyone is doing well. Cya.
So I have seen two new things on T.V. in the past few days that I really enjoyed. The first was a very random commercial with Bill Gates and Jerry Seinfeld. I mean where did this come from? It really does not advertise much of anything, but I found it very entertaining [...]
I thought I would share the “highlights” of week one at my new office building. Enjoy! 10. Stall Doors in the Men’s Room - The stupid doors are always closed, so I never can tell if someone is in there or not. It’s like they auto close. So now I have a new [...]
Wow, the last two weeks at work have really been long and annoying. I really could go into a lot of details, but basically it just boils down to people not doing their job AND me having to fix it. After a while, it just gets old! Hopefully things will go better [...]
Hi everyone! I know it’s been like two months since I have posted anything, but what can I say…I am lazy at times. I mean sometimes I just don’t like typing after doing it all day I hope everyone is doing well (all 5 people who read this blog)! Things have [...]
Well I returned home last Thursday from my trek out to the west coast, but ironically, that is when things started to get busy around here. Jake had his baptism on Saturday morning, so we spent all day Friday getting things ready. The morning started with a fun 7 a.m. grass cutting. Talk about [...]
What can I say, this is a pretty random site. Mostly it is designed to chronical the various occurances in the lives of Beau, Elizabeth, Jake, and Moose. It is pretty rarely updated, but it is a work in progress.
Hi everyone! Sorry I have not written in a while, but man I have been busy. I sprouted a bunch more of those white things (”teefers” as Mom calls them). After those came in, Mom and Dad decided I needed new food. So I have been eating all kinds of stuff. Today I went to this place called the Worlds of Cokes (I think that was the name). I was hoping to try this dark fizzy milk stuff, well, I guess I should start from the beginning.
So today seemed to start out like a normal Wednesday. I woke up, started talking to Bear, and waited for Mom to come extract me from my crib. I heard the door open after about 10 minutes of hanging out (pretty good response time), and to my surprise Dad was standing at the door. A little confused (but very much excited), I stuck my arms out and was pulled from my bed. I just could not figure out what Dad was doing home. Anyway, the morning went pretty normal. Mom made me some eggs and yogurt, I had my bottle, then I played, and finally I went down for my morning nap. A couple hours later though, I woke up and we soon were leaving the house.
Mom and Dad took me to eat some lunch (Mmmm chickens) and then we were back in the car. Where to though? All I kept hearing was this Worlds of Cokes place and references to a giant “polar” bear and some bottles. I was not sure what a “polar” bear was, but I knew what a bottle was (and that peaked my interest).
We finally got to our destination. Dad parked the car, I got a new diaper, and we were off. We went through the giant beep beep machine and into this really big building. Mom and Dad kept telling me to look at the big bottles, but I had never seen any bottles like this before. Where was the nipple? How was I suppose to drink one of those? I was very confused, but I played along and laughed and giggled.
After looking around for a little while, we came to what Mom and Dad kept describing as the “polar” bear. Evidently he was the owner of this Worlds of Cokes place because he had a big seat in the main room and everyone stopped to take a picture with him. Of course, Mom and Dad wanted me to get a picture too. Some of the kids didn’t really like the big bear, but I did not care. I just reached out and petted the polar bears face. Now that is a soft bear!
When we were done with Mr. Bear, we took the metal box upstairs and went to this room with more of those strange “bottles”. They were all going around this track on the ceiling. Anyway, lots and lots of people were in this room and everyone kept drinking stuff out of these little cups. Mom and Dad started doing it too. Some of the things they would drink and be like “Yum” and others they would gag. I kinda found it funny. I thought that eventually I would get to try some of the dark fizzy milk (guessing it was milk since it went in a bottle); however, Mom and Dad never offered. As we were leaving the place though, Dad picked me up a small bottle to take home with us. Mom and Dad said they would save it for me until I was older.
All in all, it was a pretty exciting day. The Worlds of Cokes was a lot of fun, and I even got me a mini replica of Mr. Bear to take home with me. Well…it is past my bed time, so I guess me and Coke Bear will go nite nite now. Talk to everyone later. Bye.
